We are finally meeting!

I am excited that we are finally meeting (even though it is going to be online). I feel like I don't even remember what it was like to teach in person.

Unfortunately, I am unable to give a synchronous lecture on Tuesday September 14. We will start the lectures on Thursday September 16.

We will cover the second chapter of my notes - Different Languages during Week 4 and Week 5. Your first duty is to download these notes and start reading 2.1 and 2.2. We will start with these on Thursday class.

Since some of you may not attend the synchronous lectures, I suggested a "viewing party" afterwards in a convenient time for those who can not attend. That could be an alternative to the synchronous lectures where you can pause if you wish and ask questions to your classmates or design it however it fits you. Of course this needs to be scheduled somehow and I created a channel for this on Teams. Please go to the Viewing Party channel and discuss with your classmates a time which works for everyone. Obviously, you don't have to have one big party, you can have several smaller parties. You can also just say "Hey, this is the time I will be watching these videos, you wanna join me?". The goal is to work with other people as mathematics can be unnecessarily boring and confusing when you do it alone (yes even for research mathematicians).

I do not like to work on weekends and I feel bad reading that I am making you meet on weekends as you don't seem to have any other free time to meet with your groups. I apologize for that.
